From THE OFTEBRO FAMILY, Vol 2, p167:

Gudrun was born on May 27, 1905 at Henry and Olava's dairy farm in Marysville, Washington. Being the eldest, and her mother having just emigrated from Norway after marrying Henry, she learned Norwegian first and English second. Gudrun opened her own beauty shop in 1926 and married Cliff Dixon in 1940, who came with step-daughter Carol. Cliff was a US Navy Veteran and an executive at the Simpson Paper Mill. Gudrun continued her beautician career for several years before retiring to help care for her parents who retired form the dairy farm in 1952. She was very active in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, obtained the highest rank in Eastern Star, was an incredible gardener and took up china painting later in life, which provided beautiful memorable gifts to friends and family for years to come. After Cliff passed away, Gudrun became a world traveler, getting to Norway and around the world via cruise lines. Never having her own children, she was a devoted aunt. She was also the historian of the Oftebro family and so proud to be Norwegian. She constantly reminded us of her great Uncle Ommund, a missionary in South Africa! She died on Norwegian National Day May 17, 1997.
