Hays -- Carol Marie Binder, 59, Hays, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at Hays Medical Center. Mrs. Binder was born Carol Harwood on Feb. 8, 1940, at Stockton.

She was a homemaker and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays. Her husband, Robert "Roy", died in 1998.

Survivors include a son, Roy of Hays; five daughters, Denise Thrasher of Maryesther, Fla., Rita Campbell, Oletha Binder and Crystal Binder, all of Hays, and Roxie Sioros of Las Vegas; four brothers, Jack Harwood of Hays, Jay Harwood of Grand Junction, Colo., Gordon Harwood of Natoma and Keith Harwood of Great Bend; and 10 grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rev. Mike Scully officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. A parish vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. today at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, Hays 67601.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Council of Ellis County. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
