NATOMA — Funeral services for Gordon Dale Harwood, 66, of Natoma, were at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton with Father Galen Long officiating. Mr. Harwood passed away June 24 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville. He was born June 26, 1942, in Noponee, Neb., the son of Chester Wayne and Ella Mae (Bedore) Harwood. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam. Mr. Harwood farmed before becoming disabled. He attended local Catholic churches and enjoyed collecting antiques and Santa Claus figurines.
He also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was an avid KU fan.
On Nov. 27, 1965, he married Della Mae Ritter in Great Bend. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include his son Dale and wife Cindy Harwood of Hays; brothers Jay and wife Jan Harwood of Grand Junction, Colo., Leland "Jack" and wife Kerry Harwood of Hays, Keith and wife Pat Harwood of Great Bend, and a granddaughter, Khristian Harwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol M. Binder, and a brother Delaine Harwood.
Burial will be in the Stockton Cemetery with military honors provided by the Monroe-Taylor-Barnes VFW Post 8873.
