INMAN-Dec 8--Squire Parker Gilbert, 69, of Inman Route 2 died at his home in the New Prospect section at 11:20 this morning.
Born and reared in the Big Level Church community of Polk County, Mr Gilbert moved to Spartanburg County about 12 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Leila Turner Gilbert; 5 sons, James Pinckney Gilbert of Route 6, John Henry, Leroy, Walter and Clarence Gilbert all of Inman Route 2; 5 daughteres, Mrs Velda Blanton and Mrs Bessie Hollifield of Campobello Route 2, Mrs Nellie Banks of Landrum Route 3, Mrs Grace Raines of Inman Route 2, and Mrs Leona Pace of Landrum Route 2; 17 grandchildren; 2 brothers, John Gilbert of Landrum Route 1 and Grayson Gilbert of Columbus; 2 sisters, Mrs Ester Green of Landrum Route 2 and Mrs Grover Green of Mill Spring.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Big Level Baptist Church near Mill Spring, with the Rev. Wayne Coates and the Rev Henry Alderman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mack McQuinn, Ruben Wilson, Tolbert Odell, Pat Shults, Gaines Johnson, and Howard Raines.
The body will be taken to the home at 10 Monday moring to await the hour of services.
Petty Funeral Home in Landrum is in charge of the arrangements.
