Amanda F. “Fannie” Welker, 79, of Jackson, formerly of Kurreville, died at 10:05 a.m. Monday, October 27, 1958, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Mrs. Welker was born February 15, 1879 in Motley, Kentucky, the daughter of Richard and Amanda (Alexander) Bryan. She first married Edward Hunter on July 10, 1897 in Laflin. He preceded her in death in 1898. She later married George W. Welker on March 18, 1900 in Kurreville. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1940. Mrs. Welker was a member of Millersville Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Millersville.

Surviving are five sons, Charles Chester (wife, Clara) Hunter of St. Louis, Clarence (wife, Della) Welker and Fred (wife, Lizzie) Welker, both of Millersville, Lyman Welker of Kurreville and Leslie Lee (wife, Beatrice) Welker of Alton, Illinois; five daughters, Mrs. Pinkston (Ella) Niswonger of Cape Girardeau, Mrs. John (Dessie) Newell, Mrs. George (Cloa) Stevens and Mrs. John Jr. (Jean) Schreiner, all of Jackson, and Mrs. Charles William (Ollie Marie) Hager of Taylorville, Illinois; two step-sons, William (wife, Josephine) Welker of Kurreville and Edward (wife, Bertha) Welker of Milton-Freewater, Oregon; one step-daughter, Mrs. Clara Gagnepain of Perryville; one half-sister, Mrs. Charles (Minnie “Ella”) Adamson of Marble Hill; 46 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-fathers, William Welch and Samuel Lancaster; one son, Otis Welker; two daughters, Sadie Welker and Connie Green; four grandsons, Albert Hunter, Rusby Welker, Loy John Welker and Jerry Welker; two granddaughters, Barbara Klobe and Barbara Hager; two sisters, Mary Bryan and Sarah Bryan; and one half-brother, Oscar Welch.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 1958, at Millersville Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Millersville. Rev. Golden Welker, assisted by Rev. Verdell Jackson, officiated, with burial following at Old Salem Cemetery in Millersville. Haman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
