Reba Valeen (Allred) Hansen
July 5, 1939 - December 3, 2022

ELMO - Our beautiful, blue-eyed rodeo queen, best friend, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and confidante took her final ride home in December of 2022.

Reba Valeen Hansen, born Reba Valeen Allred on July 5, 1939, in Cleveland, Utah was wife to the late Marvin Hansen and first daughter of Doyle and Anne Allred. She departed this life peacefully in her sleep during the early morning hours on December 3, 2022, from natural causes, at her home (Center and Main, Elmo, Utah) surrounded by her loved ones. Knowing that she was to be welcomed into the loving arms of her husband Marvin Hansen and her daughter Lilly MarLayne along with countless other family members brings immeasurable peace to the hearts of those she leaves behind. As the matriarch of her large family, she was the bedrock and will be tenderly yearned for until we all meet again.

Mom married dad at her parent's home out on South Flat (Cleveland, Utah) on September 17, 1955. They were later sealed for time and all eternity on October 23, 1996, in the Manti Temple. She lived a vibrant, active life and will be remembered for many things, but the most important thing in her life was her family.

It is fun to recall her as a queen of rodeos since she could ride with the best of them whether or not she was wearing her tiara and sash. Her love for horses was something she shared with her father from a young age. She rode many cattle drives through sun, snow and rain atop her handsome horses. She was still riding and rounding up her cattle until just a few years ago when she parted ways with her last palomino steed and hung up her spurs. Cattle roundups are hard work, and in addition to being the mounted help, she was also the camp cook and babysitter; it was a tall task and she loved it. Working a full-time ranch, she and Marvin mostly focused on cattle, horses, sheep and a prized bull program. But being here without Marvin broke her heart and she dearly missed him. Together, they led a life full of hard work and adventure. She loved exploring and trying new things; she boarded a plane a couple of times to visit family. Despite her fear of water, she made it to the California beach a number of times and marked just about everything off of her bucket list. As much as she loved adventure, she equally loved the simple life.

Mom was a natural born athlete, and she tried her hand at many things. She was particularly passionate about softball, a sport that she fell in love with in her youth and continued well on into her 50s. She had "Allred Speed," and even in her later years she would still sprint race her grandkids and could outrun them. To this day within the walls of her home are displayed hundreds of first place trophies and all-star trophies that she had collected over the years from playing her favorite sport. She was in a 'league of her own.'

Both mom and dad worked at the Emery County School District for a time. They loved getting out with the youth and traveling the roads of the state. It was often joked that when they would park their buses on the street near their home that the town fondly began referring to them as the "kissing busses." Along with her children Mom welcomed many a friend into her home that left as family. While she owned and operated the second generation of Hansen's Grocery Store there were many times that she made sure folks wouldn't go without a meal even if that meant someone might have to put their groceries on "her" tab.

Mom could capture your heart with that twinkle in those beautiful blue eyes and a cute wrinkling of her nose. She was full of advice and spoke with generational wisdom that we all try to keep with us. Her faith was something she took seriously and was very proud of. Her heart was pure and rare; we all recognize that she was special. One key phrase that she never left without admonishing as a farewell was to "always keep a prayer in your heart." Reba had the heart and mind of a shepherd, and she took care and loved everyone, as did her Savior.

She left her mark on this world in a way that only the best of us can. The void that she leaves behind will never be filled, but her memory will live on forever.

Reba is survived by her beautiful daughters, Maretta Mae McKendrick (Denny), Betty Valeen Hansen, Benita Ann Hansen (Jerry Gordon); son-in-law, Jesse Gordon; siblings, Bill Allred (Dixie), RoAnna Rich, Leta (David) Robertson; sisters-in-law, Patsy Allred, Marilyn Allred, Leora Hansen, Henrietta Hansen, Coleen Hansen, Verda (Mark) Minchey; grandchildren, Brooks Gordon, Becky (Stanton) Huntington, Audrey (Brock) Winn, Luke (Ashlee) Johnson, Kamie Bell, Clover (Luke) Dunn, Jeanna (Brady) Larsen, Stephanie (Zac) Gasser, Jessica (Caleb) Tearlink, Candice and Cody, Kenneth (Missy) Labrum; great-grandchildren, Burke, Hartley, Elle, Jett, Braze, Roan, Odessa, Audi, Emree, Tess, Briggs, Quincy, Kodi, Jasa(AJ), Philip, Blake, Paisley, Sawyer, Lydia, Danner, Gauge, Lenox, Channing, Rome, Kayla, Kloie, Gunner., Koen and Makyla.

Reba was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin J Hansen; daughter, MarLayne Gordon; parents, Doyle and Anna Allred; brothers, Jim Allred, Royce (Elaine) Allred, Arch Allred, Pat Allred; brother-in law, Bus Rich; in-laws, Ben and Eliza Hansen, Arvel (Georgina) Hansen, Aaron Hansen, Darold Hansen and Glen Hansen.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Symbii Home Health and Hospice for its gentle, loving care and support.

Funeral service, Thursday, December 8, 2022, 10:00 a.m., Elmo Ward Chapel. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment, Elmo Town Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington.
