Louis Owen Ault, age 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 3, 2023. Louis was born on August 18, 1926, to Alvin Owen Ault and Vinnie Hacking Ault in Cedar Fort, Utah. He grew up in Cedar Fort but spent a significant amount of time in the surrounding mountains, herding sheep with his family. He was proud of his sheep herding heritage.

He married his sweetheart, Donna Mae Reed, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 7, 1949. They built a beautiful life together, having 5 children, 20 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, and 8-1/2 great, great grandchildren. Even as a young child, Louis loved babies and would often be found visiting the newborn babies of Cedar Fort. He was always excited to learn whenever a new baby was expected in his own family.

Louis had a full life. He and his wife were fortunate enough to travel the world, meeting new friends, and often encountering old ones. It seemed that wherever he went, he would run into someone he knew or someone with mutual friends. When not traveling, he loved to spend his days in Ophir, Utah. He enjoyed hunting, riding horses, and sitting around a campfire with family and friends. When not out and about, he could be found in front of the TV, watching old western films.

Louis is survived by his brother Leo Ault (Virginia) and his five children, LuDonna Oakes (Mark), Linda Giles (Allen), James Ault (Christy), Irene George (Ron), and Mark Ault (Diane). He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Howard and Leonard Ault, and his sister Virginia Ault Coleman. He is also preceded in death by his wife. Although the family grieves his loss, they take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his sweetheart, Donna Mae.

A viewing for Louis Ault will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 10:00-12:00 at the Midvale 7th Ward LDS Church Building, 8350 South Jackson Street. Immediately following the viewing, at 12:30 p.m., a graveside service will be held for family. He will be laid to rest at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery next to his loving wife.
