Howard Raymond Ault, 85, passed away on December 30, 2015, in Kino Bay, Mexico, where he has been serving and loving the people of Mexico for the past 38 years.
He was born in Cedar Fort, Utah, on October 23, 1930, to Alvin Owen and Vinnie Hacking Ault.
He attended school in Cedar Fort through the sixth grade. He then attended and graduated from Lehi High School and LDS Seminary in 1948. While in High School, he was a member of the All-State Football Team, received the "Prior Award" when he was a senior and was voted "Dream Boy" during his senior year. He attended Brigham Young University where he played football.
He was sealed for Eternity to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Lurae Smith on August 3, 1949, in the Logan Temple.
He helped his father in the sheep business until his father passed away, but his true love and passion was farming, which he did until the day he died. He has always been a hard worker and instilled a great work ethic in his children and grandchildren.
He has always been an example of service and has been active in his community and church. He taught and served for many years as a leader in the 4-H. He served as Scoutmaster for many years and loved the boys he taught. Many of them have told him that he taught them the values that they have lived by all of their lives. He also served as a counselor in the Bishopric and on the High Council in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He has never been afraid to share his testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
His family has always been most important to him, and we have many great family memories. The Ault's home has always been open to many exchange students from all over the world whom he considers his family. No one was ever a stranger in their home. Two of these exchange students opened up the opportunity of service in Mexico. For the past thirty-eight years, they have been traveling to Mexico and serving the people there. Many people in Mexico have benefited from the Ault's generosity. Howard was the perfect example of service, faith, integrity and loving others. He followed our Savior, Jesus Christ's example and lived his life as Jesus did. We know he was welcomed by our Savior's open arms with "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." We will miss his smile and the twinkle in his eye, but we know that he is still serving and loving others and helping to further the work of the Lord.
He is survived by Lurae, his loving wife and eternal companion of 66 years; his five children and their spouses: Peggy, (Kim) Fisher, Steven (Connie) Ault, Sherie (Jeff) Warner, Janice (Rande) Pace and Brent (Tami) Ault; many foster children from all over the world; 29 adoring, loving grandchildren; and 66 great-grand children, who were the joy of his life; brothers: Louis Ault, Leo (Virginia) Ault and Leonard (Judy) Ault. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Coleman; a grandson, Justin Fisher; great grandchildren: Afton Fisher, Joseph McMillan and Presley Ault.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 11 AM at the American Fork East Stake Center, 825 East 500 North, American Fork, Utah. Viewing will be Friday, January 8th, 6-8 PM at the stake center and Saturday 9-10:30 AM, prior to the service. Interment will be at the Lehi Cemetery. Online guest book at wingmortuary.com.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up to continue helping the people of Mexico. You can contribute at Bank of American Fork, "Fund for Howard Ault", or Pay Pal, [email protected].
