Catherine Whitney, 72, daughter of the late Patrick Whitney, died Monday at Brattleboro. The body has been brought to Bennington and the funeral will be held at St. Francis de Sales church Thursday morning at 9 o'clock. Burial will be at the Old Bennington cemetery. The deceased, who other than James H. Whitney, of this village, was the last survivor of a family of 11 children, was employed as the Bradford underwear mill at the time of the fatal explosion about fifty years ago and was one of those rescued from a collapsed portion of the building. The shock of that experience undermined her health and she had been an invalid for many years. She will be kindly remembered by the older residents of the village and particularly by those who possess personal recollections of Bennington's most appalling tragedy.
