She was born November 10, 1926, in Deere Lodge, TN to the late Ronald H & Rebecca (Potter) Aytes.
Gertrude married the love of her life, Willard and enjoyed several years of marriage until his passing in 1979. She was a member of the 9th Street Wesleyan Church for over 70 years and a founding member of Memorial Wesleyan. She drove a school bus and was one of he first women school bus drivers. She enjoyed sewing and baking cakes and even went to school for cake baking. More than anything, her time with her family was something she cherished most.
Gertrude is survived by her children; James (Arleen) Lowe, Jerry Lowe, William "Gene" (Tina) Lowe, Dixie (Ralph) Southard & Debra New,: 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren as well as several extended family members survive.
Gertrude is proceeded in death by her husband Willard in 1979; daughter Dorothy Ann Marsh-Crickmore; grandsons Brad Marsh & Christopher Lowe as well as her parents listed above.
Burial will be at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle
