A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Carolyn Guillet Broussard on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille - DOWNTOWN location. Carolyn passed away after a nearly fifteen year battle with cancer on February 18, 2023 at the Calcutta House of Hospice of Acadiana in Lafayette surrounded by her loving family.

A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location. Following the rosary the family would like to leave an open invitation to anyone who would want to share their favorite memory of Carolyn.

The family requests that visitation be observed Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 9:00 AM until time of services at 2:00 PM.

Deacon Robert Klingmon will officiate the services.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving husband of forty six years, Tommy Broussard; her sons, Donovan Broussard and his wife Chasity, and Ian Broussard and his wife Amanda; her grandchildren Caelan, Iler, Madison, Makenzie, Miley, Gabe, Madeline, Griffen, Mary Katherine, Evangeline, Genevieve; her siblings John Guillet, Jr. and his wife Carla, Elizabeth Guillet, Thomas Guillet and his wife Carthy, David Guillet, Ruth Guillet Casey and her husband Tim, her sister-in-law Stacey Pellerin Guillet; her brother-in-law Harvey Broussard and his wife Faye, her sister-in-law Phyllis Hale and her husband Desmond and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Shelton Guillet, Sr. and Patricia Ruth Barry Guillet; her sister Patricia Guillet Morgan; her brothers James and Robert Stephen Guillet.

Carolyn fought the good fight till the end. She was known for her positive attitude throughout her illness. She was always helping those newly diagnosed with cancer.

Carolyn was employed with the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service (County Agent) prior to being employed at UL, formerly USL, for over 30 years. She worked in Continuing Education, Electrical Engineering, Kinesiology, and the College of Education as an Administrative Assistant. She served on the board of directors for the UL Credit Union. Carolyn was awarded the Charles Dunbar career service award in 2012, which is the highest honor for civil service employees. Carolyn also worked with UL's Elderhostel program and the Council on Aging. She designed the logo for the UL Marine Survival Training Center. Throughout her career at UL she was known as the "Candy Lady".

Cookie, as she was affectionately known, was an amazing person and everywhere she went she never met a stranger. Her sense of humor and caring nature were her best assets. She enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Carolyn loved to travel, bird watching, flowers, calligraphy, tatting and basket weaving. She is also known for her vast collection of earrings.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Michael Cain, Dr. David Reed, Allison Bertrand PA, and all the staff at The Cancer Center of Acadiana, Hospice of Acadiana and Calcutta House for their wonderful care throughout her illness.
