Obituary for Patricia Ruth "Patty" Barry Guillet. Patricia Ruth "Patty" Barry Guillet, 86, of Lafayette passed into the arms of Our Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2013. Born in Grand Coteau on November 10, 1926, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Robert "Robbie" Barry, Sr. and Odilia Brinkhaus Barry of Grand Coteau, and her husband, John Shelton Guillet, Sr.

Patty Guillet was a graduate of the Academy of Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau and received her teaching degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now UL Lafayette. Her best lessons will always be what she passed on to her children. An avid reader, she possessed a quick wit and a wry sense of humor; rarely did anyone beat her to the answers in either Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune.

Left to mourn her passing are her brother and his wife,Dr. Joseph Robert Barry, Jr. and Karleen Guilbeau Barry of Sunset and their children and grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Tena Guillet Bright, Faye Guillet Cutler, and Priscilla Guillet; her children, John Shelton Guillet, Jr. and his wife, Vicci Lanier Guillet of Lafayette, Patricia Guillet Morgan, widow of Bob Morgan of Baton Rouge, Mary Elizabeth Guillet of Lafayette, James Michael Guillet of Lake Charles, Thomas Allen Guillet and his wife, Carthy McMahon Guillet of Lafayette, Carolyn Guillet Broussard and her husband, Thomas Broussard of Carencro, David Wayne Guillet of Grand Coteau, Ruth Guillet Casey and her husband, Timothy Casey of Maurice, and Robert Stephen Guillet and his wife, Stacey Pellerin Guillet of Scott. She leaves behind a rich legacy of family love including grandchildren, James Russell "Rusty" Guillet, Barry Daniel Froeba, Jennifer Guillet Bradley, Jodie "Bucky" Crouch III, John Shelton (Chip) Guillet III, Jesse Crouch, Donovan Patrick Broussard, Michael Daly Guillet, Ian Matthew Broussard, Margaret Odilia Morgan, Robert Etienne Guillet, Jessica Anne Guillet, Crystal Pellerin Stevens, and Ellyn Claire Casey; as well as fourteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family of her blood was large, but the family of her heart--those that she fed, housed, and sheltered in her love-- was larger still. She will be sorely and deeply missed. If tears are notes of love, then surely a symphony rises to the heavens at her passing.

Pallbearers will be her sons, John, James, Thomas, David, Stephen and her Godson, Michael Barry.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Guillet's name to FoodNet at P.O. Box 53997, Lafayette, LA 70505; Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Donor Services at P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202; or to a charity of your choice.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of service. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.

Thanks to the doctors, family and the staff of Magnolia Estates Nursing Home and AMG Specialty Hospital, during her final journey
