Alverda Stella McHenry, 77, of Todd, R. D., died Nov. 23, 1984 at 3:22 p.m. in J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 16, 1906 in Clay Township, Huntingdon County, the daughter of the late Harry and Amanda (Masemore) Grissinger. She married Harper L. McHenry on March 3, 1926; he preceded her in death June 18, 1971.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Hazel) Oswald and Mrs. Frank (Freda) Carowick, both of Todd, R. D. One daughter, Elsie, preceded her mother in death. Twenty grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren also survive.
Sisters and brothers surviving include Elsie Glenola Edwards, Robertsdale; Margaret Martin, State College; Alma Whitsel, Mapleton Depot, and Melvin Grissinger, Pine Grove Mills. One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. McHenry was a member of Trough Creek Community Church, Eagle Foundry and was a housewife.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25 at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home in Cassville. The Rev. David Bailey and the Rev. James Thomas will officiate. Interment will be made in Cassville Cemetery.
No public viewing will be held at the request of the deceased; however, friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Saturday evening, Nov. 24. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association through Altoona's Mercy Hospital.
