Melvin 'Mel' Grissinger January 18, 1926 - December 23, 2007

Melvin "Mel" Grissinger, 81, of Pine Grove Mills, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at The Fairways at Brookline Village.

Born Jan. 18, 1926, in Cassville, he was a son of the late Harry and Amanda Masemore Grissinger.

On Jan. 30, 1954, he married Helen Stapleton, who survives him. He was a 1944 graduate of Saltillo High School.

He graduated from Williamsport Tech and attended Penn State. He was head designer draftsman for the Applied Research Lab at Penn State, retiring in 1988. After retirement, he drove cars for Leitzinger Imports. He also was a Deputy Warden for the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He was a member of the State College Elks B.P.O.E. 1600 and the State College Veterans of Forreign Wars. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Dirk A. Grissinger and his wife, Nadine, of Pine Grove Mills, Kathy A. Bruno of State College, and Dottie L. Triebold and her husband, Steve, of State College; seven grandchildren, Corinne Grissinger, Chad Richard and his fiancŽ, Sierra Struble, Jason Richard and his wife, Tracie, Stephen Bruno, Adam Garis, Tucker Triebold, Brandi Triebold; a great-grandson, Christian Richard, and a sister, Alma Whitsel and her husband, Denver, of Mapleton Depot.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James Thomas officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Mills Cemetery.
