At the age of six she moved, with her parents, to Elloree where her father became pastor of the Santee Baptist Church, now the First Baptist Church. She attended Santee Academy and graduated from Limestone College in June 1885. For 45 years she served as church organist and was president of the Woman's Missionary Union for 18 years.
She was a member of the Elloree Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy and the local chapter of the Eastern Star. Cemetery List gives her DOB as Feb. 7 1866.
