93-YEAR-OLD VETERAN DIES AT HOUSTON,R. F. Barton Breaks Leg in Fall, Fatal Pneumonia Develops
HOUSTON, June 17- Funeral services were held yesterday at Oak Springs, in Calhoun County, for R. F. Barton, 93-year-old Calhoun County veteran who died Saturday morning at the Houston Hospital. Mr. Barton sustained a broken leg in a fall from his bed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Tom Pyron, near Houston, ten days ago and pneumonia followed. At the time of his fall Mr. Barton was making his home with Mrs. Pyron. With Mr. Barton's death, Calhoun County now has only one surviving Confederate veteran, Reuben Morgan, 94, of Reid.
Mr. Barton is survived by two sisters and one brother; three sons, Leo Barton of Pittsboro, Smith and Edgar Barton of Derma; and three daughters, Mrs. Will Shelton of Bruce, Mrs. Clara Moseley of Derma and Mrs. Tom Pyron of Houston.
