Harriet was the third of nine children born to Hosea and Mary Sue (Moose) Sipe. She married John Gaston Miller and they had fourteen children: Ethel May, Wilburn Henry, John Everett, Charlie L., James Carl, Hubert Earl, Hosea Eugene, Anna J., Annie Vada, Rose Haltwanger, Brittie E., Marshall W., Coleman Ray and (Infant Son).

Mrs. Effie Sipes Miller, 72, died at 5 a.m. today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. S. Setzer, in Shiloh township.
Mrs. Miller was a native of Iredell county, a daughter of the late Hosea and Mary Moose Sipes. Her husband, John G. Miller passed away six years ago.
Surviving are five sons, Coite O. Miller of Washington, D.C., Eugene Miller of Catawba, and Hubert E., Ross W., and Coleman R. Miller of Iredell; three daughters, Mrs. Setzer, and Mrs. Bryson Hudson, Iredell, and Mrs. Shuford Wyke of Mount Holly; four brothers, Charles Sipes of Clinton, S. C., Will Sipes of Catawba, and Martin and Ross Sipes of Iredell; and three sisters, Ida Pope, and Mrs. Loyd Elder of Iredell.
Funeral services will be conducted at Sharon Lutheran church Sunday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Olin G. Swieegood, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be removed from Johnson funeral home to the Setzer residence at 10 a.m. Sunday.
