Hazel A. Jeanselme, beloved sister and aunt, died quietly at her home on May 27, 1986.
Hazel was born in Duchesne, the daughter of Joseph and Hannah Abplanalp. She moved to Price as a young girl with her family, attended public schools in Price and graduated from Carbon High School. She attended classes at Carbon College where she studied music and drama. Hazel was blessed with a beautiful voice and dramatic ability and while attending Carbon High and college she took part in many plays and musicals. After high school, Hazel worked for Lewis Jewelry Store. It was at this time that she met and fell in love with Marcel (Moss) Jeanselme. They were married on June 29, 1931, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
During the years of her life in Price, Hazel was busy with community affairs, singing in weddings, funerals and various functions held in Price. An active Latter-day Saint, Hazel worked in Mutual, Sunday school Primary and was a stake chorister for the Primary for many years.
Hazel and Moss were both active in the Utah Retail Grocers Association. She was also secretary and president for the National Women's Auxiliary of the NRGA. Upon the death of her beloved Moss, Hazel moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to her sister, Barbara and her family. She belonged to the Salt Lake chapter of the Ladies Literary League, writing and directing many plays for them. Being an avid golfer and busy in church functions and holding the office of Relief Society chorister, and working in the Jordan River Temple kept Hazel busy and happy until her illness occurred in the early months of this year. She was blessed with one of life's greatest gifts, good friends, who loved her and will miss her as all her family will.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 31, at the South Cottonwood 7th Ward. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the Primary Children's Medical Center, 320-12th Ave., Salt Lake City, Utah, 84103.
