William Gallagher married Jeanette "Jennie" Lashbaugh Gallagher on 28 June 1899 in Barton, Allegany County, Maryland. They were married by John J. Conway, Rector of Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church. He was the son of Patrick and Margaret Gallagher, Jennie was the daughter of Jacob and Laura Virginia "Jennie" Preston Lashbaugh.

They had at least six children:
Vincent Gallager (1900-1944)
William Louis Gallager (1905-1975)
Anna 'Marie' Gallager Preston (1907-?)
Stella Genevieve Gallagher Walters (1909-1979)
Thomas David Gallagher (1912-1944)
and Ruth Eleanor Gallagher Spiker (1919-1973).
