JOHN W. STEVENSON

GALESBURG -- John W. Stevenson, 93, formerly of 451 E. North St., died Friday at 4:15 p.m. in Knox County Nursing Home.

He was born in Perry Feb. 13, 1895. He married Margaret Ann Taylor in Perry Jan. 18, 1920.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Leslie L. Stevenson, Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Lorene L. Finley, Arroyo Grande, Calif.; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He worked in the construction industry and on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad. He also was a maintenance employee for Lincoln City Park. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, the Rev. Robert Box officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, the family said.
