"George Levi Stevenson was born in Fairmount township, Pike Co, Ill., January 23, 1846. Died at his home in Fairmount township, Aug. 27, 1905, aged 59 years, 7 months and 4 days.
He was married to Mary Elizabeth Six, Jan. 18, 1866. To this union was born 6 children, four sons and two daughters.
One son and one daughter have gone before him to the better land. He leaves behind to mourn his loss a wife, three sons, one daughter and four grandchildren with a host of neighbors and friends.
Mr. Stevenson was a kind, devoted husband, father and friend, and will be greatly missed in his community. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of all in their bereavement.
The funeral was one of the largest ever seen on the Prairie and testified to the worth of the departed.
The funeral services were held at the Fairmount Presbyterian church Tuesday, Rev. G. T. Griscel officiating. Interment took place at the Seaborn cemetery." (Obituary, Perry Citizen, August 1905)
