Alvin Adams Scholes was born 25 Dec 1902,in Salt Lake City, the son of Walter Scholes and Phoebe Lurancy Adams Scholes. He had a twin brother who died at birth. Alvin attended grade school at Clark and High School at Rigby, Idaho. He married Lavon Hunter in the Logan Utah Temple on 20 October 1927. His father served as Bishop of the Clark Ward, so he and his siblings had many chances to serve,know and love the people of the area. He enjoyed scouting and served as a scout master and Young Mens President. When his father was released as bishop in 1928, Alvin, at the age of 25 was called as a counselor to the new bishop,Elmer Waters. In 1931, he served as counselor to Bishop Arthur Bate and upon Bishop Bate's release,
Alvin was called to serve as bishop. Most of his adult life, he had problems with arthritic rheumatism, but he never let that stop him from doing the farm work which he loved. Besides operating the small farm at Clark, he ran the family dry farm above Ririe on Birch Creek. He and Lavon were the parents of 7 children, Virginia, Harold Wm., Doris, Phoebe, LaRue Olive, Mary Lou(who died at birth) and Von Alvin. His health worsened in 1953, and he passed away 29 January 1954 at his home in Clark. Funeral services were held at the Rigby Stake Tabernacle on 1 February 1954. Burial was in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
