Monroe, age 77, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022. He was a resident of Walker, LA. Monroe was a very spiritual man and a committed member of the LDS Church in Denham Springs. He retired after many years as a Postmaster and has spent his retirement dedicating as much time as he could to his church. Monroe has led many missions and volunteered to help in many events within the church. He enjoyed studying up on his family history and spent many hours in front of the computer doing research. Monroe enjoyed travelling and visited more than 20 LDS temples with his wife. He absolutely adored his family and was most happy surrounded by his loved ones. Monroe was truly generous, extremely kind, and an honest and loving man. He left a remarkable impact on all who knew him and will be forever missed.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Katherine Blount; daughters, Pamela Harvey (Steve), Vanessa Aime; son, William Monroe Blount Jr.; step-daughters, Cheryl McKinney (Gary), Sondra Vitter, Dorothy Kramer, Terri Purpera (Darrell); step-son, Willie Landry (Kay); sisters, Patsy Catt (Howard), Ina Mae Creel (Ralph), Linda Johnson (Norman), Charollet Randol; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Monroe is preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Lynette Blount; parents, Lonie and Hollis Blount; brothers, Billy Marvin Blount and Kenneth Ray Blount; sisters, Mattie Edgens and Nellie Grace Blount; step-son, Spurgeon Landry; and great-grandson, Landon Knight.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Francois Bend Assisted Living in Gonzales for their exceptional care of Mr. Monroe in his time of need.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denham Springs on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m.
