She was united in marriage on May 3rd, 1899, to John William Mathern at Storm Lake, Iowa. This union was blessed with six children, William of Los Angeles, Francis of Sutherland, Ronald of Marcus, John Henry of Los Angeles, Charles, in the Navy, and Angeline, Mrs. Willard Foley from La Crescenta, Calif. She leaves to mourn her children, 13 grandchildren, four brothers, John, Thomas, Earl and George Breyfogle, and Mrs. Herman Hoeman, also a host of relatives and friends.
In 1942, on account of her health, she broke up housekeeping and made her home with her son Francis Mathern near Sutherland and at Calumet. The deceased was a charter member of the St. Ann's Guild to which she was ever ready to assist.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Sacred Heart Church in Sutherland with Rev. Father Cullen in charge. Interment was made at the Calvary Cemetery beside her husband who preceded her in death April 17, 1923. She enjoyed her last years visiting her friends and relatives by whom she will be greatly missed.
Those who came from a distance to attend the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Breyfogle, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Breyfogle and John Breyfogle, all of Marshall, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hoeman and daughter and son-in-law of Denison, Mr. and Mrs. George Breyfogle and son Robert of Mondamin, Mrs. Ethel Breyfogle and daughter Lois and son Gerry of Sioux City, Mrs. Leon Wolf and son Rodney of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Mathern and son of Marcus.

The following nephews of the deceased were pallbearers: Wilbur, Michael, Carl, Paul Mathern and Marion and Robert Breyfogle.
