Winifred (Breyfogle) Hoemann (1895 - 1979)

Winifred Hoemann was born Aug. 6, 1895 at Calumet, the daughter of George and Achsiah Fields Breyfogle. She died May 27, 1979, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, at the age of 83.

Winifred was raised on a family farm. She received her formal education in the Calumet Public Schools. She was employed in the Calumet area before her marriage.

On Dec. 25, 1916 Winifred was united in marriage to Herman Hoemann at Calumet. They farmed in O'Brien County before moving to the Denison area in 1939 where they purchased a farm. They retired to Charter Oak in 1960. Mr. Hoemann died in 1962. Winifred continued to make Charter Oak her home until 1975 when she moved to an apartment in Denison. As of late she was a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home due to her ill health. Winifred was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith as an adult. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Denison.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include, three sons, George, Kenneth and Donald, all of Denison, and three daughters, Margaret, Mrs Louis Hinricksen and Dorothy Hoeman both of Denison and Bonnie, Mrs. Harold Segebart of Schleswig. Also by 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Clara Gilman of Tucson, Ariz.

Funeral services were held May 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Denison. Burial was in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. The Rev. John E. Lutze officiated at the services. Pallbearers included George Hoemann Jr., John Hoemann, Jeffery Hoemann, Dwight Andresen, Earl Hoemann, Steven Segebart, Randal Segebart, James Hoemann and Jerry Hoemann. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison.
