Aged Brothers.
Samuel Shacklett, Esq., one of Harrisonburg's most honored citizens, reached his 80th birthday in May, 1884, and is still in very good health, and until a recent attack, was one of our most active business men. Mr. S. has three brothers living, aged respectively as follows . B. C. Shacklett, of Fauquier county, Va., 87, Jan. 1885; H. Shacklett, Missouri, 85, Sept. 1884; Robert Shacklett, Missouri, 78, December, 1884. The aggregate ages of the four brother, Jan. 1885, was 332 years, or an average of 83 years. This is a very remarkable longevity, and we hope they may all live to add many more years to their useful lives. — Rockingham (Va.) Register.
Mr. Harry [sic] Shacklett, referred to above, lives in Shelbina, is an influential citizen, and is the father of Mr. Edward Shacklett, the popular clerk at Worthington & Co's. Mr. Robert Shacklett lives in Palmyra, and is the ex-sheriff and collector and also ex-assessor. His name is a household word to the citizens of the county, who join with the editor of the Register in wishing him and his brothers many more years of happiness and usefulness.
These four "boys" are the only survivors of a family of sixteen children, and are among the youngest. The descendants are scattered all over the United States, and include several distinguished persons. — [Hannibal Journal.
