Sarah Brown was b abt 1802, North Haven, the d/o John Brown & Lydia Carr. She d before 16 July 1825, North Haven, when her sibling Abigail married Sarah's widowed husband. Sarah was named after her father's sister, Sarah, who came from Providence, Rhode Island & lived with them on North Haven. This particular Sarah is buried next to her brother, John Brown & his wife, Lydia Carr.

Sarah was raised on the north shore by Oak Hill. There was originally a cabin built in the area of the picture. Then a regular home was built just further back from this picture.

Sarah married Josiah Calderwood about 1820, probably North Haven. Josiah was b 5 Sept 1801, Vinalhaven, the s/o Jonathan Calderwood & Charity Carver Hall. He d 13 Jan 1894, North Haven.

Sarah & Josiah had one daughter:
Abigail Calderwood, b abt 1820, North Haven - d after 1840, North Haven.

After Sarah's death, Josiah married her sister Abigail Brown on 10 July 1825, North Haven, married by Zenas Colby. Abigail was b 6 Jan 1805, North Haven & d 19 Feb 1840. Abigail Calderwood (d/o Sarah & Josiah) resided with them through 1840. Also with them was adopted / foster son Jefferson Tolman Coombs.

After Abigail's death, Josiah married Mary Shaw on 27 March 1841, Vinalhaven. Mary was b 20 Nov 1814, Vinalhaven, the d/o Otis Shaw & Lydia Carver. She d 8 Aug 1880, North Haven. Josiah & Mary had 2 children, Alvin G & Margaret Abigail.
