A memorial service will be Feb. 16 at Tyro United Methodist Church, where he was a member and a Sunday school teacher, by the Rev. Randy Foster.

Mr. Bigg and his wife were for many years involved with the Episcopal and United Methodist churches, actively involved with evangelism.

Mr. Bigg was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Sterling, Colo., to Virgil and Elsie Bigg. He began his career after graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a major in education and coaching in Greely, Colo. Soon after, he was hired by Associated Dry Goods as assistant manager of a sister store in Greely, then transferred as assistant manger of the chain at Cherry Creek in Denver. Soon after marrying his wife, Sally, he was then transferred to a sister store in Cincinnati, Ohio, H&S Pogue, and became the buyer of juniors, later becoming the assistant buyer of juniors, then buyer of intimate apparel and designer clothing for women.

After leaving Associated Dry Goods in 1976, he was hired by Miller & Rhodes, a division of Brooks Brothers, and Garfinkles and moved to Richmond, Va., where he became the manager of juniors, proceeding to management of better sportswear and intimate apparel. He traveled throughout Europe purchasing foreign goods for 28 department stores in Virginia and North Carolina. He then was hired by Embry's, an exclusive women's apparel store in Lexington, Ky., where he became the divisional merchandise manager for all of women's apparel.

In January 1987, he was hired by a women's specialty operation in Columbia, S.C., (Racks on Devine) specializing in better goods. In April 1990, he was hired by Eddie Smith, president of National Wholesale in Lexington. He managed women's apparel with the nationwide catalog operation, along with the merchandising of overstock merchandise at Nation's Catalog, holding seasonal sales. Due to his illness with melanoma, he was forced to retire his position in November 2007.

He is survived by his wife, Sally, of the home; Geoffery Bigg of Louisville, Ky., Matthew Bigg and Sean Bigg of Fort Mill, S.C.; one grandson, Jacob Bigg; and two brothers, Jim Bigg from Hot Springs, Ark., and Stan Bigg of Kearney, Neb.
