"Billy W. Ross, 75, of Tilton, passed away 10:14 P.M. Saturday (Aug. 11, 2001). Billy was born Feb. 3, 1926, in Sidney, Ill., the son of the late Cecil and Beulah (Potts) Ross. He married Edith "Bonnie" LaVonne Charles Sept. 14, 1946, in Danville. She survives. Also surviving: seven children: Marilyn Ross of Tilton, Billie Cunningham, Larry (Brenda) Ross and Jack (Sue) Ross, all of Danville, Gene (Tanya) Ross of Tilton, Debra (James) Lappin of Danville and Janet Miller of Lakeland, Fla. Also 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tame Erwin, and one brother, Glenn.

Billy served in the Marine Corps during World War II. Billy worked as a mechanic for Carnaghi's and McAleer Buick in Danville, retiring as a mechanic for the City of Danville.

Billy was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Billy was a race car driver for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services: 2 P.M. Wednesday Aug. 15 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center; Officiating: Father Ted Pracz; Visitation: 4-8 P.M. Tuesday, Aug. 14 at the funeral home; Burial: Sunset Memorial Park with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 210." - Commercial News, Danville, IL
