He was born on Feb. 7, 1915, at Chopaka, Wash., and spent his early life there. In 1936 he married LaVon Pickle at Oroville. Following their marriage they made their home at Oroville until 1948 when they moved to Ephrata. In 1953 they moved to Brewster and later made their home at Wenatchee before moving to Chelan in 1958. For 23 years he had been employed as an electrician on construction projects until his retirement in 1969 because of failing health.
Surviving are his wife, of the home; a son, Gerald, East Wenatchee; two daughters, Arlene Hammons and Verna Housden, both of Chelan; three brothers, Art of Naches, Robert of Wenatchee and Joseph of Roslyn; a sister, Althea Bradford, Wenatchee; and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.∼Alfred was the son of Allen Mathew and Thea Lund Riste of Chopaka, Wa. He grew up in the Chopaka valley with his family active in mining and cattle ranching. Their ranch was at the base of little Chopaka. He married Lavonne Pickle or as she was called, "Bonnie" and had three children. He was an electrician. He was living in Chelan when he passed. He is buried in the Chelan Cemetary.
