Milton M. Swegman, 89, 525 S. Broadway St., died Sunday evening at 6:45 p.m. in the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Swegman was born June 12, 1894, in Decatur County, the son of William and Mandy Martin Swegman. He was first married to Hazel Abbott and she preceded him in death March 6, 1933, and he then married Rose Ann Swegman, who preceded him in death Dec. 13, 1965. He was a retired railroader working for the New York Central Railway.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of the Railway.

He is survived by four sons: Fred Swegman, Rushville, Joseph and Ralph Swegman, both of Greensburg, and Eugene Swegman, of Castle Berry, Fla.; three daughters: Mrs. Roland (Katie) Dickson, Mrs. Raymond (Mary Jane) Burkhead, and Mrs. Paul (Delores) Cooper, all of Greensburg; two brothers: Perry Swegman, Brownsburg and Bernard Swegman, of Muncie; one sister: Mrs. Clara Ponsler, Rushville and one step-daughter, Mrs. Don (Vera Rose) Nichols, Hillsboro, Ill.; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Mary Swegman, Greensburg and Mrs. Mary Margaret Swegman, Rushville; 33 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons: Alfred and Paul Swegman, and one daughter, Orpha Marie Swegman; two brothers: Willie and George Swegman and one half-sister, Pearl Owens.

The services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home with the Rev. William Clemenson officiating and burial in South Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
