Greensburg — Mary Jane Burkhead, 89, of Greensburg entered into eternity Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 2, 1922, in Greensburg, the daughter of Milton M. and Hazel (Abbott) Swegman.
She was a member of the New Beginnings Assembly of God Church in Greensburg and a homemaker. She married C. Raymond Burkhead July 2, 1946 in Decatur County; he preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1998.
She is survived by three daughters, Anna Jo Patton of N. Wilksboro, N.C., Treva (Bob) Leonard of Indianapolis and Deborah (Jim) Greer of Greensburg; four sons, Tim (Linda) Burkhead of Hortense, Ga., Clyde (Barbara) Burkhead of Greensburg, Steven Burkhead and Jeff (Wanda) Burkhead, both of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Joe (Jackie) Swegman, Fred (June) Swegman; three sister-in-laws, Lillian Burkhead Cruser, Gerry Burkhead Fancher and Virginia Burkhead Shrader; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; four brothers, Milton A., Paul, Gene, and Ralph Swegman; three sisters, Katie Dickson, Delores Cooper and Orpha Marie Swegman.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to New Beginnings Assembly of God Church.
