Mr. Ira Sherman Roberts, age 84 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013.
Born Wednesday, October 09, 1929 in Zenora, Louisiana, he was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and was retired from the US Army National Guard after 34 years of service, where he participated in the boxing and baseball teams. He was most proud of having won the Louisiana Golden Glove State Boxing Championship award.
Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his Parents, Robert and Lottie Rose Roberts;
Brothers, Buck Roberts, Buddy Roberts and Harry Roberts; Sisters, Mable Day and Myrtle McDaniel; Granddaughter, Brandi Roberts; Niece, Melissa Owens.
Those left to cherish his memory include his Wife, Marilyn L. Roberts, Winnfield; Sons, Mike Roberts, Winnfield, Steve Roberts and wife Julie, Leesville, LA and Alex Gobert and wife Kelly, Shreveport, LA; Daughter, Teresa Moran and husband Jerry, Lafayette, LA; Grandchildren, Maddie, Cole, Riley, Brian and Matthew; Sister, Joann Garner, Winnfield; Brother, John Roberts and wife Alice; Host of Nieces and Nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 20 at Lakeside Baptist Church, from 1:00 PM until service time.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Lakeside Baptist Church with Rev. Onie Hay and Rev. Kenneth Tarver officiating.
