Carrol Nichols, age 85, of Elkhart, Texas, went home peacefully to God on Saturday, the 27th day of August 2022, with Patsy Nichols, his loving wife, at his side. Mr. Nichols was born on the 20th day of November 1936, in Grapeland, Texas, to parents Idas Jackson Nichols and Evelyn Pearl Murdock Nichols.

Mr. Nichols served in the United States Navy upon graduating high school. He was a hard worker and provided for his family as a welder in the construction industry until the age of 68. When he did retire, Mr. Nichols enjoyed meeting with his friends for breakfast every morning at Kim's in Elkhart. He also spent much of his time working around the house.

Mr. Nichols was a family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Dove hunting, fishing, and taking trips with his family and friends were all activities that Mr. Nichols greatly enjoyed. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Elkhart and served the Lord daily. Mr. Nichols holds a special place in many hearts and will never be forgotten.

Mr. Nichols joins in Heaven his parents Idas and Evelyn Nichols; son, Jimmy Carrol Nichols; sisters, Evelene Kolb and Sandra Coleman; and his brother, Marlan Nichols.

Mr. Nichols was a true blessing to many people throughout his life. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 54 years Patsy Nichols; daughter, Tracy Staples of Elkhart, Texas; sons, Gary Nichols and wife Teresa of Tucker, Texas, and Nolan Nichols and wife Leslie of Huntsville, Texas; sister, Shirley Deason of Grapeland, Texas; sister-in-law, Wanda Nichols; brother-in-law, Billy Coleman; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Nichols is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 31st day of August 2022 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jason Hoffman and Bro. Reagan Cooksey officiating.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at Rhone Funeral Home.

The family will have a private inurnment at Pilgrim Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorials in memory of Mr. Nichols can be directed towards First Baptist Church of Elkhart, 424 W. Parker St., Elkhart, Texas 75839.
