Mr. Marlan Nichols, age 85, of Grapeland passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 in the Houston County Medical Center. Mr. Nichols was born April 4, 1930 in Grapeland to parents, Idas J. and Evelyn Murdock Nichols. He was a member of the El Mina Shriners, Past Master of the Grapeland Masonic Lodge #473, Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Member of the Grapeland Volunteer Fire Department and the Old Grapeland Lions Club. Mr. Nichols served in the U. S. Army as a medic on the front line during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Grapeland First Baptist Church since 1972. He owned Nichols Building Supply of Grapeland for 17 years and was also retired from the railroad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Idas and Evelyn Nichols; niece, Cynthia Nichols; nephews, Mark Pierson and Jimmy Nichols; brothers-in-law, Adolph Kolb, Charles Pierson, and Billy Graham.

Funeral Services for Mr. Marlan Nichols will be held Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Grapeland with Rev. Tim Allen and Rev. Todd Nevins and officiating. Interment to follow in the New Energy Cemetery.
