Raymond Charles DuBois was born to David Austin and Celia nee Avery DuBois on 12 December 1910 in Grass Lake, Michigan. He took up and enjoyed success in amateur boxing. While training for the Michigan Golden Gloves he also worked in a factory where he had a tragic machine accident, losing his right index and middle finger down to the second joint. This ended his boxing aspirations which left him devastated and he began drinking heavily.

He married Josephine Christine Beadle on 17 July 1928 in Bowling Green, Ohio when he was 17 years old and she 15. If he did not marry her then, he felt he would never see her again as her parents were moving to California. The couple had two children, Raymond Leroy "Sonny" in 1929 and Catherine Shirley in 1930. Sadly, Josephine acquired severe bronchial pneumonia and died in Ypsilanti, Michigan on 17 March 1935 at the age of 22. Her death was crippling to Raymond and he continued drinking, leaving much of the raising of his children to his mother.

Raymond began working at Ford Motor Company in about 1930. As the country was in economic depression, he was laid-off from Ford for some time. He returned to work pushing a broom while many others remained out of work as he and his family were living in a home owned by the company, who wanted the rent paid.

Verna May Taylor was a young lady who lived for a time with Raymond's brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Martha. Verna babysat for them and sometimes would watch Raymond's two children. In Jan. 1937, Raymond married Verna and over the years they had six children together.

Sometime during the early years of his marriage to Verna, Raymond had an encounter that changed him forever when he turned his life over to Jesus Christ. He gave up drinking and teamed with a local preacher, Pastor George Moore, who founded multiple Assemblies of God Churches in Washtenaw County, Michigan including one near Raymond's home in Ypsilanti. The entire family went to church. Raymond devoted his life to God's work, shared his faith and was a member of the church orchestra. For the remainder of his life, he was a faithful servant and student of the Word of God.

Raymond lost his dad in 1947 and his mom in 1948. His oldest son, Raymond "Sonny" was killed 7 Aug 1948 at age 19 as a passenger in a Ohio car crash related to heavy fog or smoke while on leave from training in the US Army at Fort Knox.

Raymond retired from Ford Motor Company in 1972 after 42 years of employment. He and Verna lived at their Northern Michigan property near Mancelona for a while but decided to sell out and move to the dry air of Arizona. In 1977, Raymond and Verna changed their plans of waiting to have a grand celebration for their 50th wedding anniversary, made a trip home to Michigan and celebrated their 40th that summer with family traveling from around the country. The following year, Verna had a severe stroke followed by coronary arrest days later, passing away on 26 April 1978 at the age of 58 in Arizona.

Raymond was frequently dressed in suit and tie, spending so much time in the Southwest he would also wear bolo ties. He enjoyed playing the harmonica for others and had a wonderful, witty sense of humor. He spent a great deal of time assisting Teen Challenge Centers in both Arizona and Michigan. For a period his responsibility was to interview candidates in jail who received an ultimatum from the judge to enter the Teen Challenge program or go to prison. Since the program could only take on a limited number at one time, he had to select only those that were truly serious in making the life transforming decision and a commitment to change.

Sometime after losing Verna, Raymond chose to move back to Michigan to be closer to family. He met Ruth Rhinehart and they married in a small ceremony in 1980. The couple traveled a bit and purchased a home at FaHoLo Campground in Grass Lake, Michigan, a place he knew from its very beginning and where he cherished fond memories throughout his Christian life.

The couple then changed gears and moved to Arizona one more time for Raymond. Still traveling, staying active with a local church and Teen Challenge, he led his wife in daily morning devotions. Raymond passed away 12 February 1996 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 85.
