Archie G. Bowie, 83, pioneer Chelan Falls teacher and orchardist, died in Long Beach Friday after a brief illness.
Born in Atlissa, Iowa, Jan. 8, 1876. Mr. Bowie was married to Alice Magruder at Lone Tree, Iowa in 1897. They came to Chelan Falls in 1904 and Mr. Bowie taught school to there until 1919. He operated an orchard until 1938 when he moved to Long Beach where he owned and operated an apartment house. Mr. and Mrs. Bowie would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on St. Patrick's Day.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Forest and Hillis Bowie, both of Chelan; one daughter, Mrs. Norman Smith, Cali Colombia, South America; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One son, Everett Bowie, preceded him in death in 1917.
Funeral services were held today. Jones & Jones in charge.
