James Daniel "Danny" Hendricks, 89, of Woodland, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022at the West Village Retirement Center in Thomaston. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home – Manchester, with Rev. Wayne Gannaway officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Ronnie Hendricks, Mike Buckner, Charles Daniel, Sam Cleveland, Dal Gibson, Ken Chapman, and James Wise. Private family-only entombment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the funeral home.

Danny was born on November 16, 1932 in Woodland, the son of Columbus Marvin Hendricks and Bessie Daniel Hendricks. After graduating from Talbot County High School, he enlisted in the United States Army where he honorably served his country in the Korean War. After his military service, Danny returned home to Talbot County where he began his career in education as a teacher. Later, he served as Talbot County School Superintendent from the mid 1960s until 1970. He then worked as an education consultant for the Georgia Department of Transportation, until his retirement. Danny was a devout member of the Woodland Baptist Church and The Gideons International. He enjoyed serving others, often travelling internationally for Mission work. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved woodworking. He especially enjoyed working in his yard and farming the land his family has called home for so many years. Danny is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Rose Buckner Hendricks; daughter, Patty Hendricks Buice; and brother, Marvin Jefferson Hendricks.

He is survived by his daughters, Molly (Jack) Hood and Jennie (Kevin) Mullis both of Woodland; brother, Dr. Hewlett M. "Doc" (Beverly) Hendricks of Manchester; son-in-law, Mitch Buice of Barnesville; granddaughter, Lauren (Lewis) Hale of Griffin; and great grandchildren, Carsen and Cameron Hale.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in honor of Mr. Danny's memory to the Woodland Baptist Church, The Gideons International, The West Village Retirement Community in Thomaston, or a charity of one's choice.
