Irving Webber, age 83, a longtime resident of the Gary community passed away at his home Tuesday, April 20, 1976.
He was born October 2, 1892 at Larchwood, Iowa, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Webber. As a child he moved with his parents to Presho, SD. He entered the Navy in 1912 and was discharged after World War I in 1919. He married Anna Ladwig in 1920 and they moved to a farm northeast of Gary in 1921. He moved into Gary in 1951.
Hr was a member of the First Lutheran Church at Gary. He was a member of the Peden-
Cole Post No. 109, American Legion, the World War I Barracks of Watertown and was serving as Commander at the time of his death. He served as Mayor of Gary for 20 years. He was a Deuel county Commissioner, serving two terms. He was also an honorary member of the Gary Fire Department.
He is survived by two sons, William and Leon, both of Gary; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Amy Dougherty and Mrs. Lulu Andersen, both of Gary. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 1 grandson.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 13, 1976 at 2:30 PM for the First Lutheran Church at Gary with Pastor Edgar Gieschen officiating
