Mr. Clapp was born in Iowa on December 19, 1872. He spent his early life there, moving to Oklahoma where he married Josephena Harth in 1908. The family moved to the Manson area in 1931.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. H. L. Newberry of Inglewood, Colorado, and Lela McFadden of Manson; four sons, George Clapp of Wenatchee, Troy Clapp of Yakima, Charles Clapp of Wallace, Idaho, and Harold Clapp of Manson; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
