Irving Byron Heaton, age 77, a resident of Gary, passed away October 14, 1976 at the Canby Community Hospital.
He was born February 24, 1899 at Pierson, Tama County, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ward P. Heaton. At the age of two he moved with his parents to Crookston, MN. and then to Sterling, ND. In 1915 he, with his family, came to the Gary vicinity, where he grew to manhood. On May 5, 1931 he married Eva Brockhoff at Aberdeen. They lived on a farm near Hecla for a couple of years before going to Gary where they established the farm in Antelope Valley where they presently lived.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Gary and throughout the years he has actively supported it in many capacities. He served for many years on the school board and the township board in Antelope Valley.
He is survived by his wife of Gary; three sons; John of Gary, George of Minneapolis and Gordon of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a daughter, Mrs. A. G. (Marian) Gore of Denver, Colorado, and five grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Perry, of Gary, three sisters; Mrs. Bertha Cole and Mrs. Pearl Peden both of Gary, and Mrs. Clarice Schutjer of Oskaloosa, Iowa. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 18, 1976, at 10:30 AM from the united Methodist Church at Gary with Rev. Richard Salmonson officiating.
