Ruby Norris Bennett went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2008. Born in Summit County, Mississippi, she was adopted at the age of 5 by Robert Curtis and Lula Virginia Norris of Sunflower, MS. A graduate of Sunflower Junior college, she met and married Taylor Hubert Bennett in 1938.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and John Weeks and Ginger Bennett both of Gainesville, GA, Patricia and Brad Thompson of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Drew Weeks and Shannon Weeks of Gainesville, GA, Evan and Karri Weeks of Montgomery, AL; and a great granddaughter, Lily Weeks of Montgomery, AL.
Mrs. Bennett was a businesswoman for much of her married life, she served as financial secretaries for churches in Memphis, TN and Jackson MS as well as for doctors' groups in Jackson, MS. Throughout her life she served in several leadership roles in Baptist churches and volunteered in numerous organizations and always had a heart for foreign missions.
Ruby had a lovely sense of humor throughout her life. All who were privileged to know her will miss her.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Gainesville, GA to the 3rd Century Fund or the Music Ministry at 751 Green St. NW, Gainesville, GA 30501.
Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home of Jackson MS is in charge of local arrangements.
