Phillip Pfaff, aged 87 years, a resident of this city for the past 58 years, died at his home, 1415 Sixth avenue, at 7:45 o'clock last evening. Death was due to old age.
He was born in Nassau, Germany, Feb. 9, 1826, and grew into manhood there. He removed to America in 1854 and located in New Orleans, a year later removing to this city, where he has resided since.
He and Miss Katherine Schlemmer were united in marriage in 1857. She died in May, 1910. The golden wedding anniversary of the couple was celebrated in 1910.
Mr. Pfaff was well known here, having been a contractor, but he retired from business about 25 years ago. He was a member of the old volunteer fire department and was also a charter member of the German Lutheran church, which was organized in 1856.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. C.B. Bollman and Misses Margaret, Sophia and Katherine, all of this city and two sons, Charles and Petr, of South Rock Island.

The funeral services over the remains of Phillip Pfaff, 1415 Sixth avenue, were held at the German Lutheran church at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Rev. Ph. Wilhelm, pastor of the church, conducted the ceremony and the remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery.
The pallbearers were two sons, Peter Pfaff and Charles Pfaff; a son-in-law, C.B. Bollman; and three grandsons, Carter Pfaff, Cornelius Pfaff and William Pfaff.
