** 1880 Census with parents, Martin and Melchora Soto, Pascuala Soto, age 3 birth year abt. 1877; Newspaper article states she was 44 at time of death. Baptism record states birth as 17 May 1878.

A particle broken from a woman's ornamental comb, found on the running board of the "death car" which struck and killed Mrs. Pascuala Schneider, 44, of 702 Potomac Street, may decide the fate of a negro held on a technical charge of murder as the driver of the machine. While the negro continued Monday to deny that he was driving the machine which struck Mrs. Schneider, the particle of comb found lodged on the running board of his car was identified by two persons as having belonged to the accident victim.
The broken comb was identified by Mrs. Mary Rivas of 715 Potomac Street and Cucito Brecino, 9, of 535 Potomac Street. Both said they had seen Mrs. Schneider wearing the comb Saturday.
Mrs. Schneider was killed Saturday night.
Motorcycle Captain Dickman a few seconds before the fatal accident, called to the "death car" driver to turn on his lights. A burst of speed was the only acknowledgement made of Dickman's warning.
Mrs. Schneider was crossing Eat Houston Street at the time she was struck by the driver, who failed to stop. Captain Dickman phoned a description of the driver to police headquarters and City Detectives Massey and McGowen arrested the suspect 45 minutes after the accident at an auto livery station on East Commerce Street.
