Funeral Services Will Be
Held This Afternoon
At Residence
Funeral services for Dr. Claud Blume, 58, well-known physician and civic leader of Cedar Grove, who died at a local sanitarium at 11 a.m., Wednesday, after a brief illness, will be held at 4 p.m. today from the family residence, 121 East Sixty-seventh street.
The Rev. A.C. Lawton will officiate. Interment will be in the Forest Park cemetery, under the direction of the Wellman funeral home.
Dr. Blume, who has practiced medicine in and near Shreveport for the past 30 years, was born at Castor, La., July 28, 1878. He attended the school there and then went to the Memphis hospital medical college where he got his degree in 1905. The deceased was a member of the Cedar Grove Masonic Lodge No. 403, F and A.M. He had been a member of the Methodist church for 30 years.
Surviving Dr. Blume are the widow, Mrs. Mary Helen Blume; one son, Tom Blume of Shreveport; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Blume Pope of Shreveport; his mother, Mrs. R.E. Blume of Minden; five sisters, Mrs. May Talton of Minden; Mrs. P.A. Glynn of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. E.F. Osborne of Houston, Tex., Mrs. W.H. Young of Minden, and Mrs. Mack Tooke of Ringgold; three brothers, Dr. Ira Blume of Shreveport, Dr. Earnest Blume of Jonesboro, Dr. Conway Blume of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Doris Claire Blume, Claudine Blume, Thomas A. Blume, Jr., Clarence Pope, Jr., and Mary Helen Pope.
Active pallbearers will be N.B. Doles, F.L. Neeson, Charles Ault, W.B. Benson, W.F. Henderson, Jr., and Ollie Emerson.
Honorary pallbearers are to be Dr. J.E. Knighton, Jr., Dr. S.W. Boyce, Dr. W.J. Craig, Dr. J.G. Pou, Dr. R.H. Riggs, Dr. J.C. Willis, Sr., Dr. J.C. Willis, Jr., Dr. B.C. Garrett, Dr. Geo. Garrett, Dr. Pope W. Oden, Dr. J.E. Knighton, Sr., Dr. Sam Kerlin, stewards of the Cedar Grove Methodist church and all the members of the Shreveport Medical Society.
