William Henry Phillips and Effie Mae Qualls were my great-grandparents. According to their marriage license, they were married 01 Dec 1900 in Johnson County, Arkansas.

MARLOW – Mrs. Effie Mae Phillips, 82, of Marlow died at 1:28 a.m. today in a nursing home following a long illness.

Born Aug. 5, 1882, in Clarksville, Ark., Mrs. Phillips was married to W. H. Phillips Dec. 1, 1900, in Johnson County, Ark. She had lived in Marlow 46 years, and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Calloway Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick Moody, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Marlow, officiating.

Survivors include the widower of the home; eight sons, Earl, Ed and Estes, all of Marlow; Robert and Oles of Oklahoma City; Erwin of Lawton; Lee of Duncan and James of Wichita Falls; five daughters, Mrs. L. B. Pierce, Marlow; Mrs. Ed Castles of Wichita Falls; Mrs. Erwin Wahl of Wichita Falls; Mrs. Ora Miller of Oklahoma City; Mrs. D. W. Creech of Rosemond, Calif.

Other survivors are two brothers, Rallon Qualls of Mangum and Lark Qualls of Lamesa, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Butche of Lamesa and Mrs. Ethel Whorton of California; 30 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren."
