Funeral Rites for Mrs. Peter Hanson to be Held Today (Thursday), 2 p.m.

The funeral services of Mrs. Peter Hanson who passed away at the home of her son, Professor William F. Hanson, Provo on Tuesday, will be held at the Vernal Second Ward chapel this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:00 o'clock under the direction of the Second Ward bishopric.

Mrs. Hanson, 68, was stricken with paralysis while returning after a visit with relatives at Cedar Fort. She had also attended general conference at Salt Lake City.

Interment will be in the Vernal cemetery by the side of her husband the late Peter Hanson.

Two Vernal Pioneer Mothers Laid to Rest During Past Week. Mrs. Sarah Glines Hanson, Who Succumbed in Provo of Stroke, Paid Final Respects at Services Held in Second Ward Chapel on Thursday of Last Week.

A large host of friends and relatives were present at the Vernal Second Ward chapel on Thursday afternoon of last week to pay their final respects to Mrs. Sarah Hanson, wife of the late Peter Hanson, who succumbed of a stroke on May 1 at Provo. The services were under the direction of Bishop John Hair Jr.

The singing was furnished by a double mixed quartet, rendering the following numbers, "The Lord Is My Shepherd," "I Need Thee Every Hour" and "Abide With Me." Miss Meda Walker sang a soprano solo "That Wonderful Mother Of Mine." Others who assisted in the singing were Mrs. Rose Walker, Mrs. W. S. Henderson, Mrs. Wilford Bastian, Harold E. Davis, Bishop Byron Goodrich, George Davis and Alfred Caldwell. Mrs. Elva Davis was accompanist.

The opening prayer was by George E. Wilkins and the benediction was by George H. Bartlett. The floral offerings were profuse.

Archie Johnson and Wallace Calder, the speakers, told of the deceased's life in pioneering in Ashley Valley of her refining influence in music in this community and of her ideals of motherhood as exemplified by her life.

Interment was in the Vernal cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Charles H. Colton. Pallbearers were Milton Beers, Owen Hacking, Wells Ashby, W. S. Henderson, Harvey Glines and Stephen Perry.

SARAH HELEN GLINES HANSoN, a daughter of James and Elizabeth Ann Meyers Glines was born at Cedar Fort, Utah, May 23, 1866. She married Pater Hanson October 14, 1885 in the Logan Temple. Mr. Hanson died at Vernal July 20, 1920.

To this union were born four children, two boys and two girls, their first son died in infancy. Professor William F. Hansen who has charge of music in training school at the Brigham Young University at Provo. All children were present at the funeral. One sister and one brother were unable to attend.

Besides the children surviving there are two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. M. J. King, Salt Lake; Mrs. Anna M. Hacking, Vernal; John Glines, Vernal; Henry Glines, Salt Lake City and Lawrence Glines, Los Angeles. There are 22 grandchildren.

The deceased came to Vernal in 1883, where she made her home until death occurred, alternating her time since her husbands death between the homes of her children where she loved to mother her grandchildren and be loved by her own music loving children.

Mrs. Hanson was always active in church work and was president of the Primary Association for years before the division of the Vernal Wards. She was also president of the Second Ward Primary for years, was active as a teacher in Sunday School and also in Relief Society.

About a year ago a serious illness caused her children much concern and from which she never fully recovered. At conference time she went to Salt Lake and visited at her old home in Cedar Fort where she was stricken with paralysis and never regained consciousness. Death occurred May 1 at Provo, where she was taken after the stroke.
