Wanda Auten, 98, passed away March 6, 2022 at Town Hall Estates in Whitney, Texas. She was born August 31, 1923 in Whitney, Texas to Jesse and Toni (Freeman) Overton. She married Chesley Jerome Auten on July 20, 1938.

She had owned and operated a beauty shop in Hillsboro and Whitney, she worked at Whitney Hospital as a lab-x-ray tech and then as an LVN at Whitney Hospital and Park Plaza Nursing Home.

She loved to crochet and made many afghans for family and friends. She also loved to quilt and can. Her grand children thought she made the best butter and sugar sandwiches and peanut butter crackers.

She was a member of Prairie Valley Baptist Church and she had been living at Town Hall Estates for more than twelve years.

Survived by her son, Chesley Darvin Auten, daughter, Joyce Hill, son, Clifford Auten, her eight grand children, twenty-four great grand children and five great-great grand children as well as her brother, Charles Overton and sister, Celia" Polly" Caperton, many nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chesley Jerome Auten in February 2012, her parents, Jesse and Toni Overton, a brother, Jesse Overton and sisters, Senneth Raye Epps, Joyce "Sue" Brown and June Carmichall.

Services are scheduled for March 10, 2022 in Whitney, with Brother Eddie Booth Officiating. Burial will be at the Prairie Valley Cemetery Whitney...M_M
