Will of George Edelen --
In the name of God amen
I George Edlen of Springfield Township and County of Washington and State of Kentucky former being in ill health but of Sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last Will and testament hereby revokeing all former Wills by me at any time hertofore made. And as to my worldly estate and all the property real personal or mixed of which I shall die possessing or to which I Shall be entitled at the time of my decease, I devise bequeath and dispose therof in the manner following
To wit
1st My will is that all my Just debts and funeral expenses Shall be by my Executrix hereinafter named be paid out of my estate, as Soon after my decease as Shall by her be found convenient: Next I give devise and bequeath to my loving and beloved wife, my present farm of land lying and being in the aforesaid Township and Said County Containing about Two hundred and forty nine acres, and at present intercepted by the Springfield and Lebanon Turnpike Road, about one and a half miles south of the former place.
I likewise give devise and bequeath to my said wife my family of Negroes thirteen in number consisting of men women and children, with full liberty to hire them out, and to Sell any of them that prove refactory or obstinate for and example to the rest of the family and to pay for debts I also give devise and bequeath to my Said beloved wife all of my Horses, Cattle Sheep and Hogs together with all my Household and Kitchen furniture including a Clock Bernever (?) 2020 --- I do hereby Strictly enjoin on my Said beloved wife that she will cause my dear little sons Henry and George Richard Edlen to be educated at Some good grammar school untill they are of fifteen years of age, and if any of them through the providence of God Should die before he attains to the age of Twenty one years of age his future portion of the property is to revert to his bereaved Mother, and So of the other. --- Lastly I do nominate and appoint my Said loving and beloved wife the Sole Executrix of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I the said George Edlen have to this my last will and testament Subscribed my name and affixed my seal this the 25th day of February in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and Sixty three.

State of Kentucky Washington County Sct At a called term of the Washington County Court held in Springfield at the Court .... last will and testament of George Edlen decd was produced in Court and proven by the oaths of C. F. Edlen and John H. Parrott the Subscribing witnesses thereto and the Same was ordered to be recorded. Where upon the Same and this Certificate have been recorded in Will Book D. Page 411 -- Given under my hand December 17th 1863 R. S. Peters Clk
