John E. Bailey , 91, formerly of Indian Run Village, South Kingstown, a retired shop superintendent, died Monday at South County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, North Kingstown. He was the husband of Helen (Campbell) Bailey .

Born in Selma, Ind., a son of the late Arlin and Dora (Pittinger) Bailey.
He had lived in Providence before moving to the South County area 10 years ago.

Mr. Bailey was a general shop superintendent for the former United Transit Company, now the Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority, for many years before retiring in 1974.

He was a member of the West Warwick Elks Lodge.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, William A. Bailey of Union Beach, N.J.; a daughter, Jean B. McGair of South Kingstown, a brother, Ira Bailey of Selma; three granddaughters; and a greatgranddaughter.

The funeral was held tomorrow from the AveryStorti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., SouthnKingstown with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Francis Church, High Street, Wakefield. Burial was in the St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale.

John was married December 18, 1935 to Helen Campbell.
